anybody know where i can find a schematic drawing of a simple charging circuit using a 3 wire g.m. alternator? i don't even need a ignition switch. a simple toggle switch and push button starter will do.

i don't do much intelligence gathering---lousy filing system, and if it's too intelligent i get lost and have another one of "those headaches".

as far as me being back around---i had surgery last week and have been bored silly sitting around the house--and being blind for a couple of days. that will change yer perspective. man i got respect for those who have lost their eyesight. another reason for cruising back through is i never lost contact with friends i made here, and there are good folks on this site.
what i hope is we all play together alittle better---me too.

Dave, you mean the typical S1 Delco right? If so, the big terminal goes to the battery of course.A 80 amp fuse or fusible link is recomended. The two small spade terminals are marked 1&2,terminal 2 also gets hooked directly to the battery at any convient point, you can fuse those also if you want. Terminal one is switched by the ignition.For proper operation you need a switch with two separate contacts, like a switch that has an "acc",position. Hook up terminal one to the terminal on the switch. Some alternators may also need some resistence in the number one wire, a small lamp wired in series as an idiot light serves well.The ones I used had the resister on the internal regulator and functioned fine without the light bulb.On one conversion , on an old tractor, the alternator overcharged, reversing the two small terminals restored proper charging in this case, I don't know why though. hooking up the 2 wires wrong will not harm the regulator, just affect how the unit charges.
Laser eye correction? catracts?, hope all goes well. I hear you on the eye sight, I had an eye operation when I was a kid,a few days with bandages over the eyes is a lesson learned.

as far as the eyes go, my eyelids were flash burned in the service. over the years the drooping of the lids, and the damage done have caused me to have recurring infections that are extremely painful, and i do antibiotics for the temporary cure. after 30 years the veterans administration decided it's warranty work. the swelling was painful, and my eyes were closed by it. i'm doing better now--but the stitches feel like needles. another week or so, and it will all be good, and i hope to find relief this summer for the first time in years--i look forward to it. thank you for the kind words. oh yeah, did that answer yer question cosmo?? best wises for your dad.
