Guys, I was just wondering what I should expect to pay to have my glass installed. Five window cab, and I am supplying all rubber and whiskers and door channel inserts. I am also supplying the corner glass. Basically, I have patterns for the flat glass (doors, split windshield and back glass). I'm looking for the installer to cut the five pcs of flat glass and install everything. I got a quote from a well recommended installer in N Georgia and I was SHOCKED at his estimate. Rather than assume, I thought I would ask you guys what you typically see for this sort of service to cost? Here are pics so far! 49 GMC

I would say $450-$600 if he has to install all of the weatherstripping and felts to the trim. Plus if something gets scrathed he will need to pay for that.Does this include the vent windows as well or is the truck a little earlier in years? I just did all of mine in the last month and spent hours and hours trying to get everything just right. Are you supplying him all the staples, rivets and urethane to hole glass in the track/channels too? It can be very time consuming. You may be able to get it done cheaper at any old glass shop but they will not take the time to insure it's show quality.

The fact that he is providing most of the glass and all the cutting of same, pricing likely will be high. But it will fit right if your patterns are correct. Price can change depending on type of glass and any tint used also. And then there is the labor charge. It can easily be an all day job for one person.

I had the front,vents and door glass cut new from a local shop and had them install the new door and vent glass in the window chanel.I installed the glass into the truck myself.The cost three years ago was 165.00.I thought that was a good price for glass that fit and was tinted grey.I'm going to do the same thing on my "new 53 GMC project".I'll bet it will be much higher in price now.

I gave them the old glass as a pattern.

I recently paid $100 for a local shop to come to my house and install the back window glass.

Just an FYI...Make sure that the bottom outside corners of both drivers and passengers side windshiled is cut correctly (~3/16 gap all around the complete radius). If to much glass is removed your seal will not over lap the outer body properly to the trim offset in those corners. I see alot of these trucks with this problem. I had a new drivers side cut due to the first pc was a bit short and the rubber seal didnt come out far enough. The panels from LMC truck were not consistant, passenger was good drivers had almost 1/2 gap in that radius.

I had my driver side window cut and installed along with all the fuzzy things about 20 years ago for $20, the fella had the pattern and every thing. Aside from the fact it was 20 years ago, I think the fella was somewhat mesmerized by the redhead that was with me. (she had that quality about her)

Using the old ones as a template, I got the local Binswanger to cut new door side glass (both sides) and vent glass (both sides) for $40 + sales tax.

I dropped off and picked up.
