on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 98 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 98 | Getting more rocker noise and would like to adjust my clearances. Truck is a 1949 COE and removing the valve cover requires jacking up the cab (long story so I wont get into it here) which makes a hot adjustment virtually impossible.
So my question is;; what do I set my valveclearances for on a cold 248 cu GMC engine? | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 1,901 | I usually see guys say about 2 thousands more than the hot.
Give me ambiguity or give me something else

This makes the rocker only wears at the contact point. If you simply insert a feeler gauge between the valve and rocker the feeler gauge will bridge the wear point and give you a false reading. Unless you know the rockers are not worn you should check for wear and reface each rocker if worn if you want quiet results.
