Anyone know what the distance between the springs are on a 1 ton? playing with the idea of adapting a Dodge Dana 60 thats only 1.5" wider wms-wms.

with the pumpkin offset, i hope there's room to move the perch...

Hy Ti_M, The front springs on the AD series trucks taper from rear to front, can you adjust your proposed front axle for the taper? I don't have an AD axle handy at the moment, but I imagine the measurement you want is the center bolt hole measurement from the front axle.

I think Ive got the measurement in the disc brake thread over in Big Bolts... but can't find it. I'll do some searching, thinking it's in the 26" neighborhood..
Same up to 2 ton.

Front axle for AD 3/4 up to 2 ton should have the following measurements:

Center to center of spring center pin holes: 26-13/16 inches.

Thanks Guys... i check out the manual and for some reason found it for another year but not for 54... I found someone with a 1.5 ton or 2 ton at 26-13/16 but it just sounded so short, i needed a double take.

I thought the frame got wider at the front so i figured they would follow it. Seems real close... i would think they would have placed them wider for lateral stability.

I've been reading up with the idea of swapping a Dana 60 front axle into a 1-ton for 4wd. the length looks liek it will work but at 26" I imagine the passenger side spring mount would interfere with the pumpkin...

thoughts?

Dana 60 front from a dodge 79-91 is 67.5 wms-wms and the spring perches are 32.5 apart. It has a passenger side center housing.

that would mean moving each perch almost 3" inboard. no problem on the long side... I bet the short side would be tight if not impossible...
