Hi all,

I am trying to remove the front fender on my 58 Apache pickup (1/2 ton), and I believe I have removed all the bolts I can find on both the inner wheelwell and under the hood. I must be missing something . . . I ordered an assembly manual for the truck, but it won't arrive for 2 more weeks.

Can anyone give me any tips or email me a scanned page of that part of the assembly manual?

The back part of the fender seems to be free, but I can't seem to get the headlight part separated from the grill . . .

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Many thanks to you all!

-Joe

It's the passenger side fender . . . but I'll also be removing the drivers fender once I get this one off.

Thanks!

You have to stick your head way up inside the fender well and there are a couple hiding there... Won't tell you where cause what's the fun in that?

start with removing the grill, hood latch panel at the top, and the rest of the bits that tie the fenders together at the front

There's 5 or 6 bolts around the headlight bucket. Really hard to get unless you remove the headlight bucket, grille, etc.

Thanks for the replies!

I have removed the grill and hood latch panel.

Those 5-6 bolts around the headlight bucket, are those the clutch-head bolts around the headlights underneath the headlight trim piece?

Thanks again for the help! I'm hoping to get this fender off today!

the clutch heads are to remove the headlight buckets, if you are going to eventually do that anyway, but that's not necessary to disassemble the clip ... to get the fenders apart you need to take out the bolts that go into the end of the bar underneath the latch panel, there's 2 on each end, up high as CASO said - there's also some on each end down by the splash pan - the complete face needs to come apart before the fenders come off, just keep poking around up front and you'll find all the fasteners

The front end on my 58 all the bolts were so rusty that most of mine just broke off. If you don't mine removing the radiator its easier to just pull the whole front clip in one piece and then separate the fenders from the inner panels.Larry

Feel around in there. They are difficult to see and may be covered with undercoating. I have removed a fender without completely removing the grill or the hood latch panel. The bolts you are looking for are on the flange between the fender and the piece that goes behind the grill. It helps to remove the headlight bucket though as it gives you a little better access.
