Just downloaded this shop manual that's supposed to cover my 65 C10 (as well as other years).

Description clearly states it covers these trucks. But after I spent $20 and waited about an hour for a download, what I ended up with was a

"1966 Chevrolet Truck Manual Supplement"

From the manual "This supplement has been prepared for use with the 1963 Truck Shop Manual and covers service information particular to the 1966 truck"

I wrote and asked for an explanation and am waiting a reply. Most of the information describes work on a Chevy Van.

Sadly my post is too late to help but we could have helped you out on this had we been asked the question. That's the way the 4-5-6 manuals were published. The '63 manual has all the data, the supplement manual has whatever changed for the specific "later model" years.

I purchased a '63 and a '65 supplement as hardcopies at a swap meet. Sometimes the old school method of seeing what you get before you buy is the best method.

It looks like you will need the 1963 Manual and at least the 1965 Shop Manual Supplement and maybe the 1964 Shop Manual Supplement?

Hot Rod I don't think anyone could have saved me. The ad description clearly states it covers multiple years and is all I need. They just misled customers. I'm going over the ad page with a fine tooth comb and then asking for my money back. No where does it say I'm buying the "66 supplement"

I don't think so tclederman. He needs the '63 manual, and a '65 supplement. Looking at 2 books is bad enough , looking at 3 manuals takes us beyond tedious and into ridiculous.



I just read the ad from the link you supplied. I agree, you should get a refund, or a free '63 manual download if they have it. I am surprised someone else that bought the manual didn't state the problem in the reviews at the bottom of the page? Maybe the reviews are bogus?

Might there be another manual out there that ya'll recommend for the 65?

wrong thread title - this not about the manual, it's a caution to deal with reputable vendors where you can see a list of offerings,
you could have gotten a CD of the 63 Shop Manual, + the 64, 65, and 66 Supplements from a stovebolt sponser for just a couple dollars more

I guess my desire for instant gratification via download got the better of me Bill.

The ad says 427 pages. Did you get that many pages? That's a big supplement.
Possibly they linked the wrong download, or there was a hiccup while you were downloading?

jmoore it was 427 pages. Cover page says "1966 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual Supplement". Not sure what happened. I emailed the site and hopefully by Monday I'll get a response.

i know my old 66 manual suppliment is not 427 pages. i think that is longer than the 63 manual which is 5 or 6 times larger.

I'm not a big fan of any shop manuals. I like the Motor's Truck Repair books better. They were written by mechanics in the field while factory manuals were written by engineers. Of course all books assume one to have basic mechanical skills. The 19th edition of Motor's would cover the 65 models.
