| | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 39 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 39 | due to a reason i would rather not explain. the crankshaft pulley (harmonic balancer) on my 55ist series 235 has pulled away from the engine about an inch, thus making the fan blade hit the lower pulley. what would be the procedure the get the pulley shaft in more to match up with the upper pulley? thanks, jim | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | Driving a balancer on with the engine in place can be a challenge.
You may have a hard time on a 55 1st as it has the bull noise grill in the middle. If you can get a long rod out through the grill even at some angle it will help to install and tighten two 3/8" coarse bolts in the holes used for pulling the balancer. These bolts will lock out the deadening effect of the balancer making it easier to drive on. Once on be sure to remove the bolts.
