I purchased new shackles for the rear cab mounting. The shackles came and the were not right and left so I had to redrill holes for one side to make it fit to the frame. I am now trying to mount the cab to the frame. The shackles are too wide to fit up in the rear frame mount. Do I have to take the shackles apart and grind off the sleeve to make the shackles narrower to fit up in to the rear frame mount. It appears I do. The only other thng would be to put spacers between the floor and the top of the shackles. I do not have the old shackles to compare the width

Early 1949 mount are not the same as late 1949 mounts

Look at fig 1 and fig 2 to determine the correct mount for you

You should not have to modify if you have the correct mount

If you have a late 1949 the mount will look like this

I do have the late mounts as in your picture. My problem is the mount is too wide to fit into the rear mount support as it does in your picture. What is the overall width of the mount you show in the picture? Mine are 2 3/4" wide not counting the bolt head and threaded nut. I bought the complete shackle because my old ones on the truck were in too bad of shape to rebuild

That measurement you asked for is 2 3/8

I suspect you purchased shackles that were rebuilt with new rubber bushings. The new rubber bushings most likely will have to be trimmed.

Take them apart to see if this is the case
