If a full flow later model 235 (58-62) is drilled out for the full flow remote filter (not the one on the intake manifold) what size lines should be used so the engine oil flow isn't hampered?

The full flow filter on the 261 uses 1/2" NPT fittings (1/2" pipe), and corresponding size flex hoses. Most aftermarket spin-on filter adapters also use 1/2" pipe fittings. Any hydraulic shop should be able to make up a suitable set of lines- - -just be sure the hoses are rated for hot engine oil, 250 degrees F. minimum. I'd suggest a teflon-lined hose.

Are these the same lines that are used on tractors? Maybe they sell them at Tractor Supply

The swelling is way down, still leaking from some of the stitch lines, though. I've got an appointment on Monday with a facial reconstruction surgeon to see if they're going to need to rebuild the eye orbit. Hope not- - - -that involves metal plate reinforcements to the bones! You'll probably need to get custom-length lines fabricated, but lots of parts stores or hydraulic supply places do that. Once they're made, they pretty well last forever,especially in a low-pressure application like an oil filter. Some of those hydraulic lines are rated for pressures in the thousands of pounds! I'm probably going to go with a full-flow setup on the 261 in my shop, once I figure out what to run it in. I'm planning to turn it into a 300 cubic inch stroker with 292 connecting rods and Cadillac pistons.

I plan to use a remote filter pad with a spin on filter. Seems like a good plan. Is there any good place to put it? I keep thinking of building a plate to put it on the engine, or bolting the filter pad to the frame or fire wall. I would like to think convenience since I am getting older.

I'd suggest fabricating a bracket to mount the spin-on filter adapter on the driver's side inner fender near the oil passages. Pretty accessible, and no mess to speak of during a change.

I'm seeing a doc at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He comes pretty highly reccomended.

Hey Dennis,
I used a piece of aluminum. T-6 because it was $5.00 at the remnants store!
It's .75 thick which gives you room to mount the trans dapt filte, Off of the motor mount and gives you about a .25 gap between the filter and the block. I also radiused the top edge which you don't see in the photos, so th oil lines could go as close as possible to the block..
I drilled my block for the oil lines on a Bridgeport mill so while I was at it I drilled out the lugs for the motor mounts for 5/16 18 bolts.
