Nice job. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 Sir Searchalot | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 | Did you get them from an internet web site? Internet software? If so, which one? | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | An old timer friend got them on his honeymoon, back in 1954 or so, and was kind enough to scan them for me. I printed them on plain paper, then sprayed both sides with a varathane spray bomb. I then covered the back, and stuck them to the window with clear packing tape. I want to see how they age, and stand up to the sun. Perhaps I should have used spar varnish, time will tell.
When I have a bit of time, I'll stick the scans on my photobucket. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 Sir Searchalot | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 | Awwwhsome job you did on them. thanks for the info. | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 1,232 | Christopher - Those are t-o-o-o-o cool. I may have to spend some time on your Photobucket page when you get them posted. I ran across this info a few years ago regarding printing water transfer decals. Don't know if it works, but looks like it's exactly what you (and soon to be me) need. Download the .pdf at the link on the page ... http://lumberjocks.com/David/blog/325Here are more similar links ... http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/How_to_make_custom_waterslide_decalshttp://www.tangopapadecals.com/Make%20your%20own%20decals%20101.pdfI believe that both clear and white decal material is available. Although clear material is probably closer to the originals, the white material would be needed if parts of the decal must be white. White will print as clear on clear material -- like the white "AC" on this air cleaner decal I bought and could not use ... < CLICK >I've been trying to find a political bumper sticker that would have been used in 1954. I've cleaned up this image pretty well, but it would have been used in 1956. Send me a PM if anyone wants the graphic file. "Ike and [censored]"EDIT - TOO FUNNY ... the forum software interpreted the second name in the above link as a "[bad word!]" Come to think of it, I agree with the software.
