I'm about ready to put my 235 back in my truck and after reading a post I realized that when I put the front cover on I didn't put one on. Is this going to cause an oil leak on the front through the crankshaft seal? If so now is the time to put one on. I don't think it had one on it before, because I kept all related parts on my bench ready to go back on after I got it back from machine shop. What do you guys think.Larry

It was probably left out on a previous reassembly. There will be more oil against the back of the seal, but none of the small block V-8's ran a slinger, and the vast majority of them don't leak. The V-8 seal is almost identical to the one for the 6.

Thanks Jerry, I think I'll try it as is for now. I want to put this in and get it running this weekend. I'm not going to put the front sheet metal on yet so it will be readily accessable if it leaks.Larry
