Did NAPCO conversions use a particular brand winch? P.T.O. type, most likely. Was electric ever used? I'm interested in locating one, but would like to be positive on what exactly I am looking for. Would be installing on 55 2nd series to be exact. Any info. would be a great help. Thanks

I have one, it is a P.T.O type. I believe it is a WARN unit, I'll have to look when I get a chance (it is underneath my workbench in pieces). The person I bought it from said it came from a NAPCO truck.

There are some cool pictures of factory (...I think) winches over on the Napco forums. I don't remember that they were Warn brand, but I can't remember what brand they are! I like the ones with the factory front bumper, but with a slot in it where the winch lead feeds out.

The winch is a Branden LU-2. It comes with an aluminum housing and is rated at 10,000lbs. It drives off the transmission or, in my case, the transfer case. The PTO has a NAPCO plate riveted to it, not sure if Warn made it or not. You can look through my photo album and see the winch. Start here and you will see it apart as well.

Not to discourage you, but I doubt you will see one of these on Ebay. I have counted 5 or 6 NAPCO's with this winch over the years, mine being one of those. You will also need the shafts, junction, PTO, and engaging brackets to make it work.

You might be able to find one on an old Dodge Powerwagon as they used them too. This site has parts for them.
