Get a shop manual or a motors manual and look through it. you will see were it goes.

What are your referring to as "cuts through to the front"?

Is it possible someone tried to get the balancer off without a puller and caused that? I know that in my ignorance when I was first trying to remove my balancer, I ended up cutting deep inserts into the side of mine on accident, just like that. I ended up getting a new one. If the cuts looks to be caused by a chisel or something like that, and it worries you, you might want to consider a new one. I got mine for fairly cheap. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 217 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2008 Posts: 217 | I have that same part. So that's an oil slinger and that's where it goes. Got to love this site.
