Due to a bad back, I am being forced to remove the standard transmission crossmember on my 67 C30. Looking at a C50 I have, it has a removable standard tranmission crossmember. I realize that the transmission crossmember is the primary securing point on the 55 thru 72 GM trucks vs the engine mount from 73 up. If anyone has pics of a mod they made to make the trans mount removable would you please post some pics.

I used a crossmember form a 78 GMC 6500 in my 48 Chevy 6400.

Needed to make channel pieces to bolt inside the frame and narrow the corssmember some.

I may have to go that route, but was hoping to find where someone had modified the existing crossmember. If not, I will and post my pics. I've got the game plan but haven't got to the point of trying it. (By the way, not that I have a need for it, but I have a roadranger ten speed out of a 78 gmc Brigadier. Does this tranny have the overdrive also?(I was under the impression that only the 13 speeds had the OD.))

Most RR have Direct and OD ratios, tag on bottom should say RT- or RTO-, or turn input shaft and count output, direct should be far right, back, if OD, OD far right, foreward.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
