For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 | Just rebuilt all of the wheels on my 47 chev. The master cyclider had already been replaced but not filled. Power bled the brakes but still have to pump pedal once to get it to go firm. Is there still air in the system causing the pedal to be pumped once to bring it up? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | If you have original routing of brake lines, the bleeding order is left rear, left front, right rear, right front.
I looks like you still have air in your system.

Now there are going to be people saying it isn't necessary but, obviously, yes it is. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | If the brakes are not adjusted up properly they will produce this symptom. With air in the system the pedal will give a springy feeling when you pump it up. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 Riding in the Passing Lane | | Riding in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2004 Posts: 8,597 | I agree with Nix. The huck brakes are tricky to adjust. There are 2 adjustments on each wheel. Tighten eachb adjustment till you get a heavy drag. Then back it of about 4 notches. When these brakes are right the pedal just barely goes down. You just apply pressure to it. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 | This master cylinder was not bench bled. It was already in the truck when we got it. Can that be bled in the truck? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 10 | Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I re-adjusted the manual clearance and the pedal came right up! | | |
