Figured it was time to post an update, so here goes! "Mater's Cousin" is an as time and money allows project. Needs and wants seem to be two different items in life. Anyway, have gotten tailgate, stripped, removed dents, straightened and in primer. The dents were easily removed, however, the warp from corner to corner(think x) proved a bit more challanging. With the help of a floor jack, chain, and some well placed 2x4's and 2x10's and some head scratching the tailgate lays flat and shuts well on the box. Also got the box steps repaired with the welding of stess cracks, grinding, and a good ol beating with a hammer and a dolly. About as close to new as they are gonna get!! Also in primer. The rest of my time has been spent finding/aquiring parts,(getting quite the collection) questions/information(if u have read any of my posts) making or improvising parts that are no longer available or too expensive. One of these days I am going to lock myself in the shop and not come out until (Mater's Cousin) is finished.HA HA!! P.S. Been helping a buddy with his 59 Apache. He swears he will assist me with my truck! Till next update.
