I purchased a Jim Carter's harness. Included in the harness is the wire that runs from the ignition switch to the coil. The original setup has it installed inside the armored housing. I took the ignition switch apart and the got as far as the switch mechanism. Does the mechanism pop right out or is there a trick to installing a new wire inside the armored housing? I don't want to destroy the inside of the ignition switch if I can help it...
Long question short...how do I put a new hot lead in my ignition switch without destroying it?

#84819 10/04/2006 9:43 PM | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 975 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 975 | OK, here is what holds an ignition switch on a 46 together; there are little indentations on the switch that hold the plastic inside the switch. I pushed out the indents with a screw driver and the guts of the switch came out. The original wire is held into place with solder and crimping as well as a crimp to hold the wire in place without placing any stress on the the connection. I soldered a new wire on and put it back together. Now I need to bench test it to make sure it is all working right before install. | | |
