I'm looking for some ways to repair that encapsulated nut that holds the tailgate hinge on a 46' Chevy. The nuts are stripped and need to be replaced.
Can you knock the nut out and weld in a new one, or are there other ways to solve this problem. I'm also thinking that maybe the circle can be knocked out. Are any of these replacement nuts available? If its welded I think that would be the answer, even if were JB welded it wouldn't matter once the bolt is attached.

You can also get a threaded insert ( kinda like a giant pop rivet ) that would do the trick. | | |
