Looks like you had a nice solid truck to start with. What did the Dana 60 come out of? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Now that's the way to do things. Good work, shows real attention to detail. Keep the pics coming. Looks like you've been hiding around here for quite a while now. Jump in and answer a few questions some of these neophytes ask.

I may go that way as the 4:11 rear is becoming too hard to find. Good detail on the photos. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 95 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 95 | Thanks for the encouragement! The photos are just dumped in there. I hope to organize them as time allows.
The Dana 60 is from a 67-72 Ford F-250 (3/4 ton). It's not a direct bolt in but is fairly easy to modify and install. The Ford shock mounts and spring pads had to be removed for the GM pieces to be welded in place. Custom made parking brake cables were made with original GM on one end and Ford on the other. The wheel mount to wheel mount surface is 7/8" wider than the original Eaton. This will make the wheels set out 7/16" further on each side. In the Before photos, there were 1/2" spacers (stacked washers) behind each rear wheel only. As you can see, it is hard to detect even a full inch increase in width. Also, the Dana 60 bearing hubs/axle flanges had to be machined down to accept the GM wheel. Doing this requires the use of "Allen Head" axle bolts. You can forego this step if you use Ford or aftermarket wheels. The Ford "8 lug" lug stud spacing is the same as original and in my case, I was able to use the original lug nuts. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 290 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 290 | Nice Job Red.
