I want you opinions, what is a better fit, a repro steel, or fiberglass? I have a 56 chevy truck and im having a hard time getting good workable front fenders.

My opinion is steel. i wouldn't put fiberglass on my truck but that's just me. others no doubt have perfectly valid opinions to the contrary.

The repro stuff isn't bad, it can surely be made to fit. Another approach is to find good used fenders and patch the front face, eyebrow and/or lower rear where they tend to rot.

Having worked on a C1 Corvette, it is rare to find one that has maintained it's shape over the years. Where the quality standards were not what you expect today when they left the factory, there is still quite a bit of distortion that takes place from sitting in the sun, etc. I'd think that the steel would be a better choice based on this aspect alone.

the fit will be about the same, either will take some fiddling, maybe more for the fiberglas because the repro 5-9 steel ones around now are pretty good .... the only reason to prefer fiberglas over steel is if it's for a daily driver in a cold/wet climate

i would find good used oem fenders and patch any rust and repair. i have used both and am a restoration guy for 40 years and the after market ones are a major pain to fit. my 2 cents Dave
