I have a '48 2 ton and had the head lights working. This weekend I just installed a signal stat 900 and now I don't have headlights. I also didn't have power at my stop light switch so I ran a jumper wire from an unused terminal on the rear of the light to the fuse panel on the firewall, but that shouldn't have affected my head lights should it?

Check the connection at the switch

...pic...

Do you have a wire going to the post labeled "DIMMER"

The headlight is a separate circuit from the signals.
Maybe something got loose when you ran power to your stop switch.

Thanks, DAD550
I'll check tomorrow. I have a sinking feeling it is a bad light switch. I don't have tail lights either. I've run a jumper wire to the tail and they light, which there is good ground. My brake lights work and now all the turn signals.

DAD550,
Yes, all other lights except tail and dome are working. Firewall fuses are all good.

DADS50,
My dome light now works, burned out bulb. I have a 5 fuse fuse block on my firewall and don't have power to High beam, low beam or tail lights. I have park lights. I have stop lights only because I ran a run around wire to the stop light switch.

I'm a little confused,

Your headlights worked before you installed the signals?

After the signal was installed your headlights and tail lights no longer work?

Question about your signals
Are your parking lights dual filament ?
Do you have 2 bulbs per housing in rear, one for the signal function, one for stop.

I'm not familiar with the signal stat 900, maybe someone who has installed one can advise.

Have you metered your headlight switch? Check the post on the switch as you pull the knob.

DADS50,
Yes
Yes
Yes
No, Signal stat 900 instructions says "The biggest benefit of this kit, is that it works just like your modern car does. When the brake is applied it does not cancel out the turn signal.
No, but when I pull the switch there is no longer power to the fuse block on the firewall. Also the switch doesn't snap to positions it feels kind of spongee and I have to twist the knob back and forth to get the dash lights to come on. I think it's a worn out switch, after all its 64 years old.

Sounds like your on the right track on the switch. Maybe it was just a coincidence that it went out when you installed the signals.

As for your rear light brake/tail, someone else will have to chime in

My switch requires a seperate bulb for each, then I upgraded to LED's on the rear.

Maybe someone else will have an idea for you

Thanks for the help DADS50,
I should mention that my tail lights have the 1157 bulbs which are dual element and I've converted the front park lights to the same.
