hi everyone, I have an above mentioned rebuilt 261 that i only have maybe 200 miles on it and it smokes blue smoke, mostly at start up, when i installed the rebuilt engine the truck was not ready for the road, so other than the sitting in the garage getting everything dialed in i would start it an let it come to temp and check for leaks and the like, and to keep the battery charged i would start it, so i theoretically did not start driven it under load asap, anyways i hope that did not hinder the rings by starting it and not driving it.
I was thinking the other day that i installed the dipstick tube on this short block when i got it from the machinist, could i have put it in to high and have too much oil in the engine, just a question, my mind is racing on me.
the smoke is not noticeable when i am driving under load it semms to only happen at idle and start up, and when it comes down from a rev, from what i just said, this sounds like the rings have not seated, at start up sounds like oil coming down from top of head and sitting on piston till i start it, i worry to much, but hey i spent 1700.00 to get the head and block rebuilt, i guess i should just drive it and keep and eye on things...
any input would be greatfully appreciated
thanks alot
