It is a former Navy vehicle and also has a plate attached to the dash stating such. Finally getting around to working on the dash and was trying to decide whether to clean the tags up and put them back on the dash, or weld in the holes and finish the truck without tags. It's your truck, but I would put the tags back on after you finish the dash. Just too much nostalgia and history to let go.

It was screwed on with clutch head screws. It is in good a shape as yours, needs a good cleaning. Is there a magic formula to clean these with? Thanks
Mike, I will post a pic of the Navy tag as soon I can find it, should be in the same box as the dash parts I removed 2 years ago.(Yeah I am right on schedule 4+ years and counting) The Navy tag is not in great shape has some pitting on it, will have to figure out how to clean it up. Is it possible to trace the history of the vehicle through these tags? '54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
