I have a motor with the casting number of 3788378, in my research every web site I visit shows this casting number to be a 292. The issue is that this motor looks like a 250 with the shorter deck height and right motor mount. Did GM build a short deck 292? There is no mistake on the casting number. Anyone have an idea? Thank you!

Tall side cover plates is a 292, short side cover plates is a 194 - 230 - 250.

The side covers or pushrod covers are 6 inches tall on the 292. If not they are the smaller block as mentioned.
