I would clean the inside of them out and take inventory of what you got.Do you plan on keeping them, selling whole, parting out ? I'm sure you will make your money back and some, which ever way you go.

I'll be taking pictures and asking questions here on what to do with them when we get them home tomorrow. No titles and I'll be posting the VIN's to find out what we bought. My wife is the best, to let my have my addiction and not even nod her head in disapproval.

All four tires were shredded and it did not want to track right. Also the 327 block laying in the back end did not help either. We have some issues with my parents and so the second one will be brought home latter this week. Pictures and inventory will also follow. Thanks for the interest. 1967 GMC 9500 Fire Ladder Truck"The Flag Pole"In the Stovebolt Gallery1946 2-Ton grain truck 1946 3/4-ton pickup, 1953 1-ton pickup 1957 1-ton flatbed dually, 1954 Pontiac Straight Eight Of all the things I've lost in my life, I miss my mind the most! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 6 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 6 | Nice find!! Got time today to clean out the nicer Burb and took a lot of pictures. Still don't know what to do with the Burb's and will be on the road tomorrow all day to spend as much time as I can with the family. Family Comes First.

I have to get the first one off the borrowed trailer and return it to a friend. The second Burb may go to the crusher because it is such bad shape. It depends on what you guys suggest, after the pictures are posted.

It's may be better suited for a hot rod. Clean it up well, remove some suburban only parts and place these in the swap meet section along with the seats. I would craigslist the shell for a little more than scrap value if getting rid of it is essential. You are going to find that the rear fenders are rusted out at the flange underneath the body lip, they are still good enough to save though. | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,438 | Rebuild one with parts from the other. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 55 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 55 | Rebuild one with parts from the other. I would have to agree with Cletis, looks to be complete, or close to it, but it will be time consuming. I heard the our local scrap yard won't take them without a title unless they are cut up. So if I would sell parts off them and then haul the leftover to the yard, I'd have time and money in a gas axe. I'm not looking to make a lot of money off them, but would like to make some for my time and effort. I'm open for thoughts and idea's. I'd like to put a full headliner in my 1-ton panel, and I'll need more than one set to get it done.
I don't know what you paid for them, but you should be able to make some good money off of those clamshell tailgate parts.

I like the way the tail light is mounted and hooked up to hinge up when you lower the tail gait. It keeps the tail light pointed back up the road. Cool design. Does anybody know how the tail light is linked to hinge and the best way to remove the tail gait with out damage?
I'll know by late next week if I will sell them whole or part them out. From all the great advice I have gotten from this group it sounds like the burbs would benefit more by being donor trucks. I hope to add more pics tonight when it's cloudy and the flash will show more detail of their condition.

Remove the cotter key holding the rod in the bracket, that will release the tail light. The hardest part you will have will be removing the hinges from the bottom of the suburban. Make sure you soak them well with a penetrating oil like Kroil or rust blaster. It may be easier to remove the hinges from the tail gate and remove them from the body later after they have soaked awhile. I would invest in a LARGE can of Kroil if you decide to part out! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 108 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2000 Posts: 108 | 2-Ton,

I already did all the parts that hinge with it when I got them home. I have used it for years to free things up. Once it is freed up, I use any kind of motor oil to replace the Kroil.
The tail light is cool, as is a lot of other things about old Burb's'.
I'm still learning. Thanks Don

Sold them both today as a package deal. They will be going to a good home. If I had not bought them, I'm sure they would be headed to Japan right now. I learned a lot and will continue to save history as best I can. A wealth of info and him and his wife are just a joy to sit around and talk with.
Trying to talk them into making the reunion in September.
