Interesting - I was curious and so I called the number. Guy answers, "This is Dennis". So I ask him if he's "HeavyChevy", he replies, "Oh... ya, it is."

I asked if he would ship to Canada.
"Uhhh.... well... ya, I guess so, why not? What are you looking for?"

I made up some parts just to entertain him - if it is a legit business, he's not convincing!

This company has been mentioned several times here in various threads.A lot of people including me had the same experience as Goatlocker. I was lucky, I got the most important part, and then had to threaten to litigate to get the balence of my money back. He has some hard to find parts at good prices. Getting them is the problem. That is one reason I use a "special" credit card when dealing with a new company. I keep the balence limit at $500 that way I can't get hurt too badly. Plus if it looks like the seller is not legit I can put the charge into dispute. I checked the links and he is still listed as a vendor. I am supprised that he is permitted to advertise here. But that is my opinion.

They have been around for awhile, at least that name has. I remember them way back in 1989 when I bought my first AD pickup. I have no experience with them, just saying.


I'm a little surprised they still use Chevy in their name as GM made Classic Parts drop the Chevy Duty name years ago.

The vendor list on the links page is merely a list of existing vendors of chevy/gmc truck parts, not an endorsement by the Stovebolt page.

If you have such an issue with them being on the list, you should contact the editors and make your case.

If they are doing business of some kind here on the 'Bolt in the Swap Meet section and not following through, please contact the moderators of those forums first. They and the owners/editors will look into it and go from there.

The only vendors that advertise here are the ones that give discounts on orders to 'bolters who help out or assist with costs of maintaining the page(off the top of my head: Jim Carter, Mar-K). Some of the vendors also help out directly with offsetting the costs of the 'Bolt being online( American Classic pays the bandwidth bill for this site, which is around 7 million hits a month - that is not cheap). You will see the banners of these companies in certain places, or you will read mentions of them with links to their websites in tech articles or what not.

The folks who help keep the 'bolt online.

I guess they can't be a serious operation or GM would have taken them to court by now, remember Chev Duty?

That is good advice from Woogeroo, and is what I should have done when I had problems with Heavy Chevy. With that incident several years in the past, I figured they had gone out of business. I also can only relate what happened to me, with out judgement on my part. As I have related in other posts, several years ago I had problems with Jim Carter. That appears not to be the norm for Jim Carter. I know every vendor can not make every customer happy every time. It would however be interesting to see the vendors with high levels of customer satisfaction, as well as the vendors who don't stack up so well.

They have reviews of good and bad and awesome deals, parts quality, customer service issues, etc..

woogeroo, thanks for the link it is helpfull. I wonder how difficult it would be to setup something here on The Stovebolt? Not so much a forum for comments, but more of a vote system that would disply a number (1-5) next to the name on the links page. It is just an idea, and would be easier to police than a forum allowing comments.
