The Stovebolt Site Forums The Side Lot Southern Bolters Looking for old junkyards in Florida

Will be on vacation in Clearwater Florida area in May would like to see any old junkyards that are around,as well as anything antique auto.
Were would be a good place to shop for old Auto parts?

How about south Georgia? There's a good one just south of Waycross Georgia on highway 1 on the left side of the road heading south. I've been there a couple of times a few years ago. A person can spend a couple of hours just looking. Like 3 50's Caddys set next to each other and pretty much all there. I found one 46 Big Bolt in there and got several pieces off it, including a good windshield regulator! And got a good set of 7.50 20 tires that were seting inside that they didn't know they had.

Thanks Chris i have two weeks so hopefully i will get to see something along those lines.Would enjoy it very much to spend a few hours just looking at the oldies.

Hey Len, There's Old Gold in Old Town (west of Gainesville). There is another on US 27. I think it was somewhere around Sebring or Lake Placid but not 100% sure. Definitely between Lake Okeechobee and I-4. Don't know the name, but have passed it a number of times.

There is a place in debary Fl called american recycling that does pre 75 cars and trucks. They had between 50 and 75 cars and trucks left from that era the last time I was there about a year ago. Mostly 60s cars but there was a handfull of trucks in there to.

There is a place in Inverness,Fl called Mauro's cycle. 5401 S. Florida Avenue, Inverness,Fl 34450. Phone (352-726-8585). They are more known for their huge motorcycle parts area, but towards the back they had a lot of stovebolts laying everywhere. Haven't been there in about a year, but I did hear that the owner recently passed. The son has been running it for a while but I heard he is wanting to clean things out. Look for the big rocket/missile out front. You can't miss it. : ) Also, get there early and bring PLENTY of mosquito spray b/c the mosquitos are huge(size of small chickens). LOL

Banter's Antique Auto and Truck Parts up in Hudson, which is only a short drive from Clearwater. They specialize in Chevy's from the 40's to 80's.

If you are going to banters there is another place near there Dennis's chevy truck parts. in pinellis fla. he has some stuff. Last time i went to banters you had to call first.Havent found any good junkyards in so fla.

I've been told it's still there... only went there once back in the 90's while visiting a pal... West of Live Oak, Florida proper on that main state road out of town... off that road, there is a junkyard.

Never did know the name of the place.
