Hello, I have a 46 Chevy Truck with a 235 engine from a 58 or 59 Chevy, numbers 3836846 GM 14. When I bought the truck they converted it to a newer starter that does not require the foot starter or a button to be pressed it just turns on. Its a 3 speed transmission and I want to get it back to the original foot starter. What are the parts I will need to accomplish this?

Does it make a difference what engine you have a 216 or 235 will it fit both?

Picture of Part I think I need

Yes,

You will need that part, and you will also need the correct starter. I'm assuming you still have the original bell housing? The starter and the flywheel must match. The 6 volt and 12 volt starters take different flywheels.

Does the truck have the original ignition switch? Did they add a push button to engage the starter? You'll want to look at an original wiring diagram to see what has been changed on your wiring harness.

Yes, It looks like the original bell housing, it has to holes on each side to screw in the foot starter linkage. I have a 6 volt system so I will need to check the flywheel and starter, or do I need to just replace the part that goes on top of the starter?

No it looks like they changed the ignition switch because the key looks weird and small and does not require any button to be pushed to engage the starter. You just have to turn the key and give it gas. Where can I get a diagram of the original wireing?

Some of the individual starter parts are the same, but basically you need a whole 1938-48 pass or 1938-54 truck starter.

Does the bell housing need to be dropped to install the foot starter linkage, or can it be installed left in place?

Hy mauricioaglr, you should be able to install the linkage with the bellhousing in the truck, it will help if you have contorsionist training
