For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 46 | I rebuilt the hinges and elongated the slots. Rehung the doors and the leading and trailing door edge gaps are fine but I can not get enough up movement to get the belt lines to lineup. They were not aligned before as the hinge pins were wore out. Nothing wrong with the cab hinge posts. Any ideas?. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | what would happen at the bottom and top if you lined up the belt? do you have enough extra gap at the top to account for the distance below the belt? don't discount poor fit from the factory, these weren't top dollar machines Bill | | | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 46 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 46 | Red58, It's like the doors sag alittle but these hinges are tight. I know that back in its day fitment was not that important and the latches would take up the slack. But I think it should be a little better. I do have plenty of space between the top of the doors and body. Thanks for the reply. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | sag as in the belt lines up at the front but not the back? if so, you should be able to cure that by moving the hinges and sacrifice a bit of evenness on the front and back gaps, if the whole door, front and back [and both sides], needs to come up you might have doors not originally on that cab and may need to do some creative modifications of the hinge mounting points

Since the lower front cab corners were toast, I used some metal pipe and braced from the inside of the upper firewall to the rear of the floor by the seat riser. This pushed the cab nose foward and made the beltline line up and at the same time gave me better front and rear door gaps. | | |
