I need to remove the oil pan but it looks like there is not enough room to tip it down to clear the tie rod. The truck is in my driveway up on jack stands. I removed the lower flywheel cover but the back of the pan hits the flywheel when I tip it down so it doesn't clear the tie rod. | | |

I suppose that you could undo the tie rod clamps and unscrew the tie rod right off. That may be easier than removing the tie rod end. | | |

I ended up taking the crossmember off (bolted on). In your case I think it would be easier to remove one end of the tie rod. Maybe your tie rod is slightly bent?????

I put the truck at the back of the driveway between privacy fences and it can't be seen from the street. | | |

I ended up taking the tie rod off the steering arm on one side only. I didn't need to remove the tie rod end, just the end plug and outer ball seat and it popped right off. | | |

Does a passenger car 235 have an oil pan that does not play well in a 1/2 ton truck? | | |

I think the block I have is a replacement short block because it has no serial number stamped on the boss where it should be. It's a low pressure block so I'm assuming that it has solid lifters. | | |
