I am new to this site and I love it. Can anyone help me I am 22 and new to the '50s. I am used toworking on newer stuff and PRE '30s engines. I just picked up a 1952 3100. Can anyone give me info on engine and tranny options so I can figure out what I have? Also and good websites that might have info and specs on the truck, engine, trans, etc.

Some of the regulars here have a wealth of knowledge on options and original-equipment information. I've got several old manuals from Motor Magazine, covering automotive applications from 1940 through 1971, and I'm sure the trucks share some of the same equipment and specifications as the cars. Your engine size will be stamped on a machined pad near the distributor, and there are several casting numbers on the block and head to help identify exactly what you have. You're right, this is a great site!

There should be a number to call GM and they will send you a packet for FREE. It has alot if not more then all the info that you are asking about.
