I'm finishing up my 1953 3100 and am ready to install an exhaust system for my 235. Does anyone make a basic kit that I can install myself? I'm not looking for twins, just a stock single setup. I don't live close to a muffler shop so would like to order something on-line if possible. Any recommendations? Thanks.

The filling station makes a kit. I'm not sure what shipping is, but I think they're located in Oregon somewhere...

there is a fella on Ebay that makes OEM exhaust setups. He doesn't do custom only factory. I sent him a mesaage and he built mine for me for $200 included shipping. It came with evrything you needed, muffler, pipes, hangers, clamps, and the exhaust manifold gasket. The exhaust system fit like a glove and looked just like factory install. It has been a while since I ordered the exhaust system so i can't think of his name. But I'm pretty sure he is still there.

I need everything from the muffler back. Is that available from the usual vendors?

Just ordered mine from Waldron's. 3-4 week lead time. I'll keep you all posted on how well it fits and the quality.

He stated he doesn't live close to a muffler shop and wanted to install it himself.

I live near a relatively large city and I cannot find a muffler/exhaust shop that is able to make an exhaust system (for which they do not have a pattern). I gave up after having a shop who works with race care exhausts make a cob-jobbed set.

I'd be willing pay the shipping for a good set that fits. I have heard good things about Waldron's and I'd trust Chevs of the 40s.

The set I bought off eBay was a joke, but they gave me my money back.

"Everything from the muffler back" is one piece. That should not cost too much to have shipped.

Is this for a pickup or a panel body?

Thanks, Tim

I could have used that about 8 years ago, I have "duallies" now.

Someone will find that link useful in the future (for a 47-55 panel-body).

I decided to go with Waldrons after both of the local exhaust shops turned their noses up at a 50's era vehicle over a 1989 corolla....

Ok time with for a Waldron's review. Exhaust arrived well packaged. They were very strict with me on exact info about vehicle and wheelbase. But when the exhaust came I had to trim about 4 inches off of the main pipe to make it all fit. I would rather it be too long than too short but overall this system/kit looks awesome and I am vary happy with the quality.

yep that is exactly what I am talking about, you can hardly find good services in america any more. I for one have no questions of why our economy is such a mess. I kinda lucked out as the guy I went to restores old chevy's too. I had to redo one of the pipes as he didn't get the little metal ring inside the header completely, and bent the heck out of it. But it was only $400 and all I had to do was take my little kid to the childrens museum while they did it.
