The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Making a Stovebolt Bed Three Stake Pockets, Two Stake Holes???

This is a bed from a parts truck I have. I really never looked at it since I don't want it, but I put it on C/L and when I was looking at the pictures I started noticing its rater odd.
Someone cutthe stake pockets so the fenders could fit. Then I look at the sides and see it only has two holes, but three stake pockets. So this bed mst be a mutant? From something other than a 3/4 ton 46 Chevy? Someone wanted to confuse me? Well I am. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Looks like my 4t6 Chev 3/4T bedsides minus the inside shortened stake pocket. Someone may have cobbled a different set of fenders on it. One Dan to another....

I think they must have put it on a shorter frame with the wheels more forward so they needed to move the fenders forward. The fenders that came with it are correct fenders.

But let me ask you, didn't the extra stake pockets have a corisponding opening on the top of the rails?

Looks like a 41-45 long bed Chevy. 46 would have 6 bed strips/7 boards. Yes, that series Chevy bed did not have a stake hole in the middle. What about your 46 GMC, did it have the center stake hole?

Its in the shop and I can't remember, or look at it. But I think it does. The blue bed is 88 1/2 inches long. If that means anything.
