Had to pull the 3 speed automatic out of the ’53 and rebuild it. After sitting for all these years the rubber seals were hard and brittle. So we replaced everything. Tonight I’ll finish the installation and hopefully no more puddles on the garage floor.

LOL! Is that how this thread works? I neglected to describe the diapers I had to change between all my truck work! Perhaps I'll leave those details and photos out... wink

LOL, you better make sure the words "truck" are in your post or Cletus will come looking for you. LOL

I hope this works. http://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread/ubbthreads.php
This is what I've been busy with the last 9 months, changed rear axle, new breaks, and had the engine rebuilt. Also re-did seat and added seat belts and electric wipers, and rebuilt the steering gear box. Hope to hit the streets soon. The old photo is when I bought the truck back in 75.

Nope, it looks like the truck found the fountain of youth. The trouble is, our trucks can get a total restoration but we can only get a face lift.
Keep the pictures coming as you progress. Good work...

Made my first patch panel. The previous owner had hacked a hole behind the seat into the cab wall for who knows why. Speaker mabye.
Good practice for areas that will really show.

I'm really getting close to being ready to drive "mean green" again. Got the exhaust finished up yesterday and the shop did a real nice job. When I drove it in the garage my son said he couldn't hear it running. Put the hood back on with some help from my son. This weekend I will fine tune the timing and the clutch adjustment and I should be good to go. All this work and all my mother in law can say is "aren't you going to paint it?". Ya, some day, but at least now it will be a very dependable driver even if it still looks a little rough.

Buttoned up the rocker arm assembly and did a final hot lash valve adjustment followed by a cruise in the truck yesterday. Now onto the noisy water pump.

well this weekend i fit and tacked engine mounts into frame and worked on my transmount to make it work. also bolted in the rack and pinion and brake booster/master. just to look at the room i had to work with. might redo the transmount with something of my own design but the store bought will work for now. http://s1240.photobucket.com/albums/gg496/michael58237/?albumview=slideshow my 51 project

Finally replaced the clutch pedal bushing. Had to make a mandrel to keep the new bushing lined up while being pressed back into pedal arm. Also had to hone out new bushing a little to get a good fit on shaft. Turned out nice - no side to side play, and real smooth on pivot shaft. Well worth the effort !

My DCNF webers shows up today! So I started in on the manifolds for the offenhauser. Finished the water spacer for the heat of said offenhauser and made a bottom plate for it too.
Tomorrow I pick up my re- cored original radiator to replace the pretty alinum one the PO destroyed for me. Finally split a tube where it had been hit by the fan.
Back on the road in the morning though.
The 261 is done, except for a new distributor. And down pipes from the Fentons.

This past weekend I pulled Bigchev's generator and cleaned it up along with removing the wiper motor and doing the same. The wiper ran smoothly after wiring it to a battery. Really surprised after removing all the junk.

I need to make a budget build thread on here somewhere, not sure where but I got a bit done the past couple days.

I got the entire wiring system pulled out of the '49 and took the frontend off in one piece. I forgot how heavy it is as one unit when the rad is still bolted in lol Got it in the garage so now I have to sand it down and clean it up for some satin black paint.

I got a chance to rip apart my '76 motorhome for the chassis swap. 5hrs later and there's nothing left except a cab and chassis and floor..need to rip that up still.

Hopefully get both trucks and my '41 Ford all apart this week.

'65 c10... brakes were soft, kinda mushy... the front didn't dip or dive anymore, so snatched out brake master cylinder, went and got a new one... then proceed to snap the fitting off of a brake line.

yay. So, that is what I'm doing today...

Put the newly re-cored radiator back in. Worked on the manifold adapters.
I hate wondering if something will work or not.

went to bleed the brakes and the bleeder screw valve on the left rear snapped off.

couldn't get it out, broke some extractors trying... put new wheel cylinder in...

maybe I can bleed the brakes today.... I hope.

That... or I'm just gonna burn it to the ground.

The guy helping me with my truck work came up with a quote that I have been using alot since I started my rebuild,"No one said it was going to be easy". Seems that my case is not the only one that this quote works for. :-)

Started on a new floor mat - I want to get a good close "seal" around the steering column and pedals. Should get my shocks back from Apple later this week, so I also got the new links deburred and painted.

BuddyTruck,
I have to do that yet. I have to install new glass on one side and make sure the windows don't rattle when down.

Painted racing stripes on the roof and started to stain the old wood panels that make up the bed. All minor cosmetics pending the time I start to actually dig into the body work.

Started taking out my old rotten bed wood with a crow bar and a four pound hammer. Also got my first look at the spare tire holder on my 65 C10. It's a chain driven lift. UPDATE..That rotten wood was no match for my hammer. Left a little wood on outside edge. Thought it would be easier when I replace it.

Hooked up the heater (no leaks) and installed the speedometer (works fine). Now I know that 45-50 mph is the tops for cruizing in the 48 3100 with a 216 engine, sm 420, and original rear gears.

But all runs good
