| | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 | I was looking at the oil pump pick up on my 261 to day and at the bottom center there is a very neat 3/8" dia. hole in the screen. Now I'm thinking why have the screen with a 3/8" hole in it or is the hole isolated from the screen area? Maybe there was a plug there that fell out? I looked at the online manual but couldn't find a close up picture of this detail, Can someone help me out with this ?

| | | | | Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 253 | An update on this: Taking a closer look today I found that due to metal fatigue some of the sheet metal at the bottom side of the sump pick up had fallen away exposing the 3/8'' grommet hole in the screen that the metal originally covered..........I've never seen anything like that before!

It is designed to let oil into the oil pump if the screen gets plugged. If the screen gets plugged the screen is sucked up away from the cover exposing the hole. It should not normally be exposed.
