| | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 35 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 35 | Is the round trunnion for the tailgate hinge supposed to stay in a fixed position or is it supposed to rotate freely when the tailgate is opened and closed? If it is to stay in a fixed position, should it be greased-up so that the tailgate rotates more easily around the trunnion?

| | | | | Joined: May 2010 Posts: 303 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2010 Posts: 303 | the truninons on my 55 2nd series just slide in. There is a slot recessed into the trunion. And there is a hole on the bottom side of the tail gate where you can slide a flat head screw driver in to hold the trunion in place while you tighten the bolt. The trucnion will turn freely when you open and close the tail gate. I put a little dab of bearing grease on mine before I installed them. | | |
