Would be better to use a TH350 with the 250 six. (Or at least that's been my experience. Others mileage may vary). But yes, it will work. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,742 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,742 | I've seen 292/TH400 combinations that worked pretty well together, mostly in step van or 1-ton service truck applications. I don't think they were original-equipment. One round track race team I worked with used a retired bread truck set up that way to tow the race car trailer to the track. We had a pretty well set up mobile shop in the truck. Jerry

Say Hot Rod, you ever use a TH350 torque converter on a th400?

That's a sneaky trick to increase the lockup RPM. We used to do that on the round track cars in the street stock classes where they required us to run an automatic transmission. Jerry

The 700 has a clutch that locks up in it, while the 400 does not. The snout where it goes into the pump is different size too. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 149 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 149 | | | |
