Just recieved my new set of 10 rubber hood bumpers. Went to install them on my '50 half ton and found where the 6 flat type bumpers go (in the middle on either side of the hood) but don't know where the other 4 larger "can like" bumpers go. There are no other empty holes that I could see along the hood edge.
Help!?!?

I did notice two holes on either side of the spring latch mechanism but the bumper stems would are too small and will not hold to keep the bumpers in place. I looked throughly and saw no extra holes anywhere.
Does anyone have a photo of their hood showing the placement of the bumpers? Please post if you do.

I guess the previous owner put them there not knowing bumpers
were to go there instead of bolts.

words..... especially true with these old trucks.

| | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 | Apparently the previous owner had reason to use the holes for bolts, as they *do* go through the sheet metal on the grill, so the bolts are actually helping to hold it up.
I took a razor blade and sliced off the nibbles on the bumpers and then glued all 4 on the area above the grill where the hood meets using Loctite glue. Worked like a charm.
