Looking at catalogs, such as LMC, and Chev's of the 40's and they only list inner fender wells for 48-53 trucks.

Is there a difference?

I know the outer fenders are slightly different with extra holes drilled for the 54/55 grill, but I didn't think there would be a difference in the inner fender well.

Hi Whitedog,

The inner fenders are as you say very close. The main difference is the way the lowest part of the grill is attached to them. But, it just requires drilling a few holes. When I found a good set of the 48-53 inner fenders I used the old ones as a template for installation on my 55 first.

First off, thanks for the reply. I suspected the inner fenders differences were only subtle. Just [censored] the outer fenders difference are only slight. It's probably not worthwhile for a sheet metal manufacturer to use two different toolings on something that isn't going to be seen, when a few well placed holes are all they really need anyway.
