Although getting help from fellow Bolters, there are no images within the owner's manual, shop manual or my old 42 Chevy parts manual. I have seen some factory drawings and while similar they do not show all the parts that came with this truck over 30 years ago and I believe they are correct and complete. I could not find that style carrier in the 47-54 factory assembly manual, Hopefully someone will have some info for you
What is the item under the j hook in the second pic? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 | DADS50, That item is the factory lock, it's a cast iron piece and locks on to a special nut on the 'J' hook. I believe this lock was used on later years also. The locks are getting hard to find and expensive. FOUND PICS-in my old 41 Salesmens Truck data book, pics of light duty and 3/4 ton tire carrier called Monorail carrier. Also checked in my 42 parts manual, no pics but part numbers are the same for 41 and 42, see attached Webshots link. http://rides.webshots.com/album/582371665xpYwSg

Still would like to se a detailed blow up out of a Chevy parts book which may show all the associated parts. I'm thinking a 1941 parts manual may have such a drawing.
