| | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 57 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 57 | The '49 Chevrolet pickup off frame restoration was moved from the home shop to the shop bay just a quarter mile NE of the Joplin EF-5 tornadno Nov of 2010. The home and shop did not fair well in May of 2011. The new home and repaired shop welcomes the Family and the 3/4 ton. The selected blue was the Monaco 387. The paint shop suggested the upgrade 2011 Moroccan Blue GCT wa682R. The fun stuff begins when some BTU's are installed in the igloo cool shop. I am still the novice at the computer, but hope I have been able to post a pic of the project I spent a year rebuilding the 216,body and long bed. If the link does not work, some advice on posting pics would be appreciated.

You can not link to photos on your computer. You must up load them to a host. I took a few images of the project. My flash did not work on the paint image. I will add to my 'album' of all detail later. I added .095 sheet iron to the inside / outside of the long bed. The paint shop did a fantastic job hiding the many tack welds. Each piece was sheered to specs and tacked to original bed. The two outside panels between the two stake pockets look like raised picture frames. If one gets down to the nitty gritty to check it out, it is not easy to see the 7 pieces that were added. The original tailgate will do just fine for now. All original, but the patriotic accessory rims. Bringing back old iron is what I do, it is who I am when I was born as a gearhead over 7 decades ago. Yesterday, my cardiologist gave me a thumbs up on my health and told me to remain active. My reply, "I'm gone'a do that". Did you do any mods to the cab? I see the windshield division bar missing.

The cab has mounts and core holes for the Deluxe design heater to mount. The windshield will be the two piece. The windshield glass and back glass will be installed by a glass specialist. The original framed door glass is in great condition and this is a project I feel comfortable doing. | | |
