I watched a couple videos on Youtube on how it works and that sold me on getting one. Now I won't have to round up the wife when I bleed the brakes. Anybody else have one and hopefully like it?

The only time I didn't like it, was when I was filling the completely dry lines in my '49. It took forever! BUT, its fun to use on lots of things, like checking your vacuum advance, sucking gas up to the carb and other fun stuff. When I've used it to bleed brakes in service, it works much faster. I also work alone in the shop, and it sure is nice not to have to find someone to sit in the cab. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 2,544 | I've got a Mityvac and it works fine. The down side is having to open the system to keep enough brake fluid in it. I also got a Motive Products pressure bleeder. It screws into the top of the master cylinder, fill the jug with brake fluid and then pump it with the hand pump. I have used it on a couple of trucks that have a hydrovac and had great results. On a conventional system its much faster than using the Mityvac. I don't work for or have any association with Motive Products. I learned about it here at the Stovebolt some time back. www.motiveproducts.comDon | | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 311 | I bought the Mityvac brake bleeder after I finished rebuilding the brakes on my '48 1.5ton. After a friend and I had used it on my truck for a couple hours I was frustrated and decided to look for a better more modern solution. I found the solution to be Speed Bleeders | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 247 | The problem I have had with mine, it will suck air around the threads of the bleeder screw when you are trying to bleed brakes with it. It takes a long time to finally get fluid to the vacuum pump. It works great to check vacuum advances and things like that. The only issue is that you need to close off the small vent hole or your going to leak brake fluid out the hole. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | The instructions I watched on youtube said to put some sort of goo on the threads to prevent it sucking air past the threads. I would have to watch it again to see what it is they recommended.

It is easier to sit around a couple of years and someone on the bolt will answer it for you. When you think about it,it has to be something simple. Thanks. Worked pretty well for me. Just make sure you have the master cylinder cap snug.
