| | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 116 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 116 | I'm gettting close to being done with the rebuild on my 248 gmc, and my engine guy says that he thinks I'm missing something in the bottom of my oil filter canister. I don't recall there being anything in the bottom of it, but it seems there should be a spring or washer or something to keep the filter off the bottom of the canister. Am I missing something? Thanks for any help.

Filter they gave me has larger center hole which makes spring useless . Back to parts store for different filter.

Thanks for the time Caso, waaaaay above and beyond. That's what makes this site so great, folks like you going, out of their way to help another bolter.

The spring and washers just keep the filter element centered top to bottom in the housing.
