I get a small deposit upfront and return most of it when the tooling comes back in good shape. The old-style 216 balancer with the hand crank lugs needs to have a little machining done on it to use a center bolt effectively. Jerry

Check yours and if it is threaded I suggest you install a bolt with a nut and washers and tighten the nut thus pushing on the balancer on to the crank. Its a better approach than driving it on. They make sleeves that go over the seal area to repair the wear at the seal if yours is worn. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 229 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2011 Posts: 229 | i will have to look at it closer. its a 51 with the hand crank provision. ive installed speedy sleeves before i am not that far into the 216 to worry about that right now. was wondering if guys tapped them back on or drilled them. so they could use a harmonic balancer installer (which i have in the toolbox). not too worried about leaking oil as of now. i just want to get the engine back in one piece. i removed it to install a chrome timing cover. its just a decoration in the garage right now.

If the crankshaft is threaded, someone has done it after the fact; none of the inline six cranks were drilled/tapped at the factory. Jerry
