on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 | Been wanting to add the Custom cab moulding to my '64 C10. They sell for big bucks (about $200) for a shiny pair online and the ads usually refer to some kind of mounting hardware.
I'm checking them out on ebay and from what I can see, the mouldings come with some screw holes and that's about it. This is my first project car and I'm going for more of a hot rod thing than a full perfect restore, so a little patina and wear doesn't bother me.
Can I easily affix the cab moulding using just screws or is there something additional I need? I've checked a bunch of online catalogs and didn't see anyone selling just the mounting hardware ... makes me think that's because it would just be 8 simple screws! Any tips?

Then you have the mounting screws in the door jam and one at the rear of the cab where the moulding wraps around. On my '65 I didn't have the clip so I used several layers of 2 sided outdoor mounting tape in that corner and it worked.

You can easily build one out of some 1/2 inch wide strap. I can send you a picture of what they look like if you want. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 | The clips were pretty much just a thin steel strip that the trim slipped in behind. I'll update my profile to include my email address or you can post them in this thread in case someone down the road has the same question.

Here is a " How To" thread I posted after I installed Custom Cab trim panels on my 65: http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/270929/post/2149858/hl//fromsearch/1/#2149858Hope that helps!. Good thing too, because a few of the screw holes are a little bigger than they are supposed to be, which means I can use screws with the right size head for the job.
Given that the sails are otherwise in good shape, the 45 bucks I paid, including shipping, ain't a bad deal.

I had seena trick like that that once before, but rather than countersunk screws pan head screws were used and the trim was notched slightly for a more positive fit. The screws were just loose enough for the trim to slip under and not be loose. Brian I can still send you a picture of the clips if you would like. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2012 Posts: 33 | Brian I can still send you a picture of the clips if you would like. That'd be great, pope ... I'm down for all the info I can get to do the job.

I first tried pan head screws but I felt they may loosen over time. I changed to counter sunk screws so I could tighten them down such that they won't back off later on down the road.
