As far as I know, the only thing holding up the Truck Museum moving to the Cloverdale Fairgrounds is the City has to agree to them using the old Shannon Hall to house the collection. I'm sure the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce would appreciate any support that the B.C. Bolters could give to help make this happen. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 | Hopefully Bobb will jump in now that we've worked out a fair and equitable deal... he tells you about the museum and you let him see your truck... man, I should be negotiating the deal for Shannon Hall... we'd have this done in no time! I wonder if they'd let me have that big old Dodge I fell in love with at the old Teamster's museum as my fee? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 | Hy Greengrass and guys, I wouldn't call the old Trev Deely building down on False Creek a museum, more like a crammed tight storage building. I don't remember how long they were there, but the next location was at the south foot of the Night street bridge in Richmond. Trev what colour was the "big Dodge"??? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 | Well Bobb the truck I fell in love with that day we toured the Teamsters truck museum is kind of an ugly duckling to most people and I know you said she's she's not complete but she sure is cool!!! I'd be glad to give her a good home! When the museum contacted the Chrysler club of America to try and get some info on that model, they were informed that no Airflow trucks came to Canada, and that they had accounted for all those trucks (very low production), so we wondered if their production numbers were off by one or what, because we obviously had the truck? There is quite a little sordid story about the restoration of this truck while in the museums possession, but I won't go into that here. That truck was one of the rarest in the museums collection, my favorite truck in the collection is the brand new, yes I said brand new 1946 Chevrolet Maple leaf 3 ton single axle tractor. That Maple Leaf was ordered with a Willock low bed, and they both arrived just before the activities of Kings companies were shut down, the trailer was used a bit, and used by the museum, but the truck was never used. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,388 | I had no idea there was such a thing as an airflow truck! What a beaut!
I didn't know this museum existed, I better go and see it someday. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 | Hy Mr. Lang and guys, actually at the moment there is no museum, the trucks are in storage, but I don't know where. As has been mentioned here, there is some talk of them being brought back to the Cloverdale area (where the B.C. Transportation Museum was located, until our last NDP government destroyed it) I would love to see the museum up and running again, there has been some talk of auctioning off the collection, but I haven't heard anything about that for a while now, so hopefully that won't have to be done!

As for an update on the Cloverdale move; the proposal has been presented to the Mayor and Council and has been forwarded for further review. At least they didn't say no! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 139 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 139 | The building that used to hold the trucks in Port Coquitlam now houses an auto wrecker business. That was a real shame to see that collection disbanded. I believe that dodge airflow was a 1939. check out Hemmings Blog as they have one with what the tanker body should look like.

That Airflow I am in love with is the one you mentioned to me when we visited the museum that is incomplete because it is missing the tank on the back and the only one they could find is down south somewhere and the owner would rather watch it rot in a field than sell it at a reasonable price so this truck can be completed (if I'm not mistaken that's how the story went) Same truck or my memory gettin' foggy? Regardless, finished or unfinished I'd LOVE to own that old beast! | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,101 | Hy Trev and guys, no fog yet Trev, that is the same truck, we definately did not have more than one! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 169 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2009 Posts: 169 | would be very nice to see all the trucks again thats what they are meant for! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 5 | Hello Fellow BC Bolters!
I have been lurking around stovebolt for the past couple years now and have finally gotten around to signing up for an account. I have a 46' Chevy 2-Ton that is in a variety of states of restoration currently. Any tips for local BC parts sources or a guiding hand would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,

Then you have parts shipped to them, run across the border and bring 'em back. A lot of the sellers in the US run specials with free shipping anywhere in the lower 48 states. Pricing tends to be a lot better than Canadian suppliers. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 5 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 5 | Thanks guys,
Yeah I have used a few places in the states for things I was just curious if anyone had the key to the secret garden of parts here.
Cheers!

They said it may be open to the public this year, but I think that may be a bit optomistic. It is great news! | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 460 | Wow, excellent! Thanks for the update, Bobb! Can't wait till we can all do our first visit to the new museum! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 305 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 305 | Morgan, Bruce is right. I was just in Sumas this morning picking up a transmission. The shipping places charge $2.50 to $5.00 to receive parcels. Canada Customs has never charge me yet for bringing parts in.
