Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 47 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 47 | i bought a new ammeter and hooked it up per the wiring diagram: battery to the charging side of the guage; negative side of the guage to the voltage regulator. with the engine turned off, when i turn on the headlights, the ammeter shows that it's charging. shouldn't it be discharging? is the fix simply to reverse the wires? if so, why would the diagram have it backwards. this is a negative ground, 12 v, 1950 chevy half ton. thank you.

The current is flowing from the reg. to the bat. when it is cherging. There for it hiiks to the charge side. Did the ammeter show discharge when it was running? They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 47 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2010 Posts: 47 | thanks for your reply. i'm not to the point where i can start the engine so i don't know the answer to your question.
