For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 | I have a 46 stock truck. YF Carb. Where does the bottom of the accelearator spring hook to? I have a Z shaped clip that came off the side splash pans...and I can't remember where that goes. Should have taken more pictures . Looks like the spring would connect to the Z but no place to attach the Z near the bottom of the spring. I assume the throttle cable just arcs in from the top and clears the air filter? I put the throttle cable nearest the driver is that correct. Thanks for the help. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,839 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,839 |

I am missing the snap on clamp on the rod that holds the linkage in the hole on the carb linkage. I'll have to see if I can buy one. The cable I guess clears the air filter? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 160 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 160 | If the throttle cable goes thru a hole in the rod you dont need that clip. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | I have a 46 stock truck. YF Carb. Where does the bottom of the accelearator spring hook to? are you refering to the return spring? your 216 may have had a clip off the oil pan for the spring to hook to Denny Graham web site link http://www.pbase.com/dennygraham/image/139631246here is a pic from a earlier thread on the throttle stop ...pic... Did you get your paint from the filing station. All the other colors I see are much more gray. Thanks again. I'll have to make the clip. Does it just hook over the pan or is it secured by the oil pan bolt. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | I Painted my 235 with rattle can duplicolor ford gray ...pic... the other pic I linked is Denny's 216 I believe he painted his with the Filling Station paint and is more correct, but not sure. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 775 | Nice truck. Gus, I noticed that you have a throttle rod clip shown in that link. Originally from the factory the AD's did not use a clip. The throttle cable was the only thing that retained the throttle link: sec.6 sheet 5.01 in the FAM show's that. I don't know why they didn't use a clip back in the day, but it seems like a good idea to me. I've never had a lot of confidence in the wire being the only thing between me and running wide open. This said, I’ve never heard of one failing.

Maybe the clip came with the carter yf that was on the truck The FAM shows what looks like the Rochester B
Heck I didn't even realize my 235 had a 216 manifold until a few years ago

It appears that someone with the same concerns that I have put the clip on, good idea in my opinion. In fact your picture prompted me to stop off at NAPA looking for a clip and I got a buddy that’s gonna look for one at the shop he works at.
