Mine is worn and the new bushings are loose in the spindle. Any one try oversize bushings?

Restoring 1950, 5 window, 1/2 ton, in family since new. Never done one before.

Not saying yourself aren't worn but many folks assume the bushings should have a press fit in these 1/2 ton spindles like about all other kingpin type front axles for years and years.. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 187 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2009 Posts: 187 | I would be curious to know if the bearing surfaces of the spindle have excessive wear as well, mine were not in good shape after weeks of searching on-line and asking around I took the suggestion to have them hard chromed. I gave the shop the new bearings so that they could machine to a nice fit. Just a thought.

The assembly had noticible play before I took it apart. I understood the bushing are press fitted into the spindle with light pressure. Anyway I think they are too loose. As an alternativr to a new spindle, I am looking for oversized bushings as a solution, then machine the spindle for them.
