I have a 66 C10 Longbed Stepside, bodied as a 67, with the 327 and 3 speed on the tree. Is this a early production run or did they start putting the newer sheetmetal on in late 66? Anybody know the answer?

Welcome to stovebolt. Back in the day you could buy a new truck in the late fall that was supposed to be the next years model and some states would title it with the current year. Not all states did that. That is how a 67 became a 66. I would guess that if a 66 was left over well into 1967 that same state might title it as a 67.

I had a '73 that had the '67 to '72 body style. I figured it must have been one of the last ones made.

Never, period. The body designs changed in 67. Check closely to see if your vins have been changed. Major issues with the DMV and the cops. Also, someone may have put a 66 cab on a 67 frame and used the tittle to the 67 frame. This is considered a 67 in many states as tittles could go with the engine (rarely used) cab or frame. Even if your 66 is tittled as a 67, never refer to it as so, it irritates those who know the differance.
